Product Specific Information
The eBioY1/82A antibody reacts with CD68, a member of the sialomucin family closely related to lysosomal-associated membrane proteins (LAMPs) and scavenger receptors. CD68 is predominantly intracellular, localized mainly in late endosomal compartments, and is also detected on the surface of myeloid-derived cells such as monocytes, macrophages, dendritic cells, neutrophils, basophils, mast cells, and some progenitor cells.
The antibody shows surface staining on B cells and a minor fraction of monocytes, while intracellular staining detects approximately 50% of B cells and most monocytes.
Applications Tested:
This antibody has been tested by flow cytometric analysis of normal human peripheral blood cells. Recommended usage is ≤0.125 µg per test (in 100 µL final volume). Optimal titration is advised for specific assay conditions.
Filtration: 0.2 µm post-manufacturing filtered.
Target Information
CD68 (Macrosialin) is a 110 kDa integral membrane glycoprotein mainly expressed on lysosomes of monocytes and macrophages, and to a lesser extent on dendritic cells and granulocytes. It is involved in phagocytic activities, lysosomal metabolism, and cell-cell interactions. CD68 is expressed in interdigitating reticulum cells, histiocytic lymphoma, AML, and granulocytic sarcoma. Elevated CD68 expression has been observed in CD34+ cells of various human malignancies, including acute myeloid leukemia.
