Store vial at -20°C prior to opening. Aliquot contents and freeze at -20°C or below for extended storage. Avoid cycles of freezing and thawing. Centrifuge product if not completely clear after standing at room temperature. This product is stable for several weeks at 4°C as an undiluted liquid. Dilute only prior to immediate use.

This affinity-purified antibody is directed against human cytochrome P450. BLAST analysis of the immunogen sequence shows 83.3% identity with mouse, rat, hamster, and monkey.

Target Information

The CYP1A1 gene encodes a member of the cytochrome P450 superfamily of enzymes. These proteins are monooxygenases that catalyze many reactions involved in drug metabolism and the synthesis of cholesterol, steroids, and other lipids. This protein localizes to the endoplasmic reticulum and its expression is induced by certain polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs), including those found in cigarette smoke. Although the enzyme’s endogenous substrate is unknown, it can metabolize some PAHs to carcinogenic intermediates. The gene has been associated with lung cancer risk. A related family member, CYP1A2, is located approximately 25 kb away from CYP1A1 on chromosome 15.
