Target Information
AKAP8L may play a role in constitutive transport element (CTE)-mediated gene expression by association with DHX9, increasing CTE-dependent nuclear unspliced mRNA export. It is proposed to target PRKACA to the nucleus and may be involved in nuclear envelope breakdown and chromatin condensation. Additionally, it may anchor nuclear membranes to chromatin during interphase and release them during mitosis. AKAP8L is required for the G2/M transition and histone deacetylation during mitosis by recruiting HDAC3 to chromatin, leading to histone H3 phosphorylation at Ser-10. It may also participate in pre-mRNA splicing regulation. [UniProt]
