Target Information
GAPDH (Glyceraldehyde-3-phosphate dehydrogenase)는 해당과정(glycolysis)에 관여하는 촉매 효소로, 37 kDa의 동일한 소단위체 4개로 구성된 테트라머 형태로 존재합니다.
이 효소는 NADPH 존재 하에 1,3-bisphosphoglycerate를 glyceraldehyde-3-phosphate로 환원시키는 반응을 촉매합니다.
GAPDH는 거의 모든 조직에서 높은 수준으로 발현되며, 해당과정 외에도 DNA 복제, 수리, RNA 수출, 막 융합, 미세소관 결합 등 다양한 세포 기능에 관여합니다.
또한, 신경퇴행성 질환 및 암과 관련된 세포사멸(apoptosis) 과정에서도 중요한 역할을 하는 것으로 보고되었습니다.
GAPDH는 Alzheimer’s disease 관련 amyloid precursor protein 및 Huntington’s disease 관련 Huntingtin 단백질과 결합하는 것으로 알려져 있습니다.
Western blot에서 GAPDH는 로딩 컨트롤용 단백질로 널리 사용됩니다.
