In direct ELISAs, no cross-reactivity with recombinant human IL-2, recombinant mouse IL-15, or recombinant human IL-21 is observed.
Target Information
IL-15 (Interleukin 15) is a cytokine that regulates T and natural killer (NK) cell activation and proliferation. IL-15 and IL-2 share many biological activities as both bind to common hematopoietin receptor subunits and may compete for the same receptor, thereby regulating each other’s activity.
IL-15 induces activation of JAK kinases and phosphorylation of STAT3, STAT5, and STAT6. It may also increase expression of the apoptosis inhibitor Bcl-xL, preventing apoptosis.
IL-15 plays a key role in the growth and differentiation of T and B lymphocytes, NK cells, macrophages, and monocytes, as well as in immune response regulation, allograft rejection, and autoimmune disease pathogenesis.
It is also implicated in inflammatory disorders such as rheumatoid arthritis, psoriasis, and pulmonary inflammation. Neutralization of IL-15 has shown beneficial effects in psoriasis and diabetes models.
