Target Information
CYR61 is a secreted heparin-binding protein encoded by a growth factor-inducible immediate-early gene. It associates with the extracellular matrix and connective tissue and belongs to the CCN family of angiogenic and vasculogenic regulators, including CTGF and Fisp12.
As an angiogenic inducer, CYR61 binds to integrin αvβ3, stimulating cell adhesion, migration, and DNA synthesis in vascular endothelial cells. Expression increases during vessel growth, wound healing, and chondrocyte differentiation. CYR61 is also detected in various tumors, promoting tumor growth and serving as a marker of tumor progression.
