Antibody detects endogenous levels of total Glycophorin C/GPC.
Target Information
Glycophorin C (GYPC) is an integral membrane glycoprotein found on human erythrocytes. It contributes to the mechanical stability of red cells. Mutations in GYPC lead to various phenotypes such as Gerbich and Yus (deletions of exon 3 and 2, respectively), and Webb and Duch antigens (single point mutations). Glycophorin C shows little homology with glycophorins A and B.
