Target Information
Interleukin-17A (IL-17A, CTLA-8) is a CD4+ T cell-derived cytokine that promotes inflammatory responses and is elevated in rheumatoid arthritis, asthma, multiple sclerosis, psoriasis, and transplant rejection.
IL-17A is a 32 kDa disulfide-linked homodimer (136 amino acids) belonging to the IL-17 family (IL-17A–IL-17F), signaling through the IL-17 receptor (IL-17R/CDw217).
High levels of IL-17A are produced by activated CD4+ T-cells and enhance ICAM-1 expression in fibroblasts.
Human IL-17A stimulates epithelial, endothelial, and fibroblastic cells to secrete IL-6, IL-8, G-CSF, and PGE2, supporting hematopoietic progenitor proliferation and neutrophil maturation.
IL-17A regulates NF-κB and MAPK pathways, stimulates IL-6 and COX-2 expression, and enhances nitric oxide production.
