Product Specific Information
This antibody specifically recognizes mouse CD169, a 180–185 kDa member of the Siglec family of macrophage-specific cell adhesion and endocytic receptors that interact with sialylated glycans.
CD169 is expressed on a subset of macrophages found in the spleen, liver, lymph node, and bone marrow, and can also be detected on monocytes in the bone marrow and periphery.
Target Information
The Siglec family comprises membrane-bound lectins (immunoglobulin superfamily) that bind sialic acid and mediate cell-cell interactions.
Family members include sialoadhesin, CD22, and CD33.
Sialoadhesin is a macrophage-specific cell adhesion molecule expressed on activated macrophages in chronic inflammation and tumors.
