Product Specific Information
Heat-mediated antigen retrieval is recommended prior to staining, using a 1 mM EDTA buffer (pH 8.0) for 10 minutes, followed by cooling at room temperature for 20 minutes.
After antigen retrieval, incubate samples with primary antibody for 10 minutes at room temperature.
A suggested positive control is prostate adenocarcinoma with XMRV infection.
Target Information
Xenotropic murine leukemia virus-related virus (XMRV) is a newly recognized human retrovirus first identified in prostate cancer tissues from men with a deficiency in the innate immunity gene RNASEL.
Studies have detected XMRV DNA and protein in prostate cancer at varying rates and in patients with chronic fatigue syndrome.
The XMRV protein is synthesized in the Golgi apparatus by host cells.
