Target Information
PCBP1 유전자는 인트론이 없는 형태로, 완전히 처리된 PCBP-2 mRNA의 역전사 전이로 생성된 것으로 추정된다. PCBP1과 PCBP-2는 유전자 중복으로 인해 발생한 상동 유전자를 가지며, RNA 결합에 관여하는 주요 세포 내 폴리도메인 단백질군에 속한다.
PCBP1은 PCBP-2와 함께 폴리오바이러스 RNA의 번역 공동활성자로 작용하며, IRES의 stem-loop IV와 5’ 말단 클로버리프 구조에 결합하여 RNA 복제를 촉진한다. 또한 15-lipoxygenase mRNA, HPV16 L2 mRNA, hepatitis A virus RNA의 번역 조절에도 관여하는 것으로 알려져 있다. α-globin mRNA 안정성과 관련된 α-globin mRNP 복합체 형성에도 기여할 가능성이 있다.
