Product Specific Information
This antibody was cross-adsorbed to MLC (a.a. 11-22) then affinity purified using phospho-MLC (Ser-19) peptide (without carrier).
It detects a 20 kDa band corresponding to the molecular weight of myosin light chain in human A431 treated with EGF and in mouse C2C12 treated with Calyculin A.
Reactivity is lost after lambda phosphatase treatment of MLC.
Target Information
This gene encodes a nonsarcomeric myosin regulatory light chain activated by phosphorylation, regulating smooth muscle and non-muscle cell contraction.
It may also participate in DNA damage repair by sequestering the transcriptional regulator AATF/Che-1, which represses p53-driven apoptosis.
Alternate splicing results in multiple transcript variants.
A pseudogene of this gene is found on chromosome 8.
