Product Specific Information

A suggested positive control is E2F-1 transfected Soas2 cells.

Target Information

The E2F1 protein is a member of the E2F family of transcription factors, which play a crucial role in cell cycle control and tumor suppressor protein regulation. E2F1 contains several conserved domains, including:

  • DNA-binding domain
  • Dimerization domain (interacts with DP proteins)
  • Transactivation domain enriched in acidic amino acids
  • Tumor suppressor protein association domain (embedded within the transactivation domain)

E2F1, along with E2F2 and E2F3, possesses an additional cyclin-binding domain. It binds preferentially to retinoblastoma protein (pRB) in a cell cycle–dependent manner and can mediate both cell proliferation and p53-dependent or independent apoptosis.
