Recombinant rabbit monoclonal antibodies are produced using in vitro expression systems. The expression systems are developed by cloning specific antibody DNA sequences from immunoreactive rabbits. Individual clones are screened to select the best candidates for production.

Target Information

Isoform 1 functions as an extracellular chaperone that prevents aggregation of nonnative proteins and stress-induced aggregation of blood plasma proteins. It inhibits amyloid fibril formation by APP, APOC2, B2M, CALCA, CSN3, SNCA, and aggregation-prone LYZ variants (in vitro).

It does not require ATP and maintains partially unfolded proteins in a state suitable for refolding by other chaperones such as HSPA8/HSC70. Isoform 1 protects cells against apoptosis and complement-mediated cytolysis. Intracellular isoforms interact with ubiquitin and SCF E3 ubiquitin-protein ligase complexes, promoting ubiquitination and proteasomal degradation of target proteins, including COMMD1 and IKBKB.

Additionally, Clusterin modulates NF-kappa-B transcriptional activity, nuclear isoforms promote apoptosis, and mitochondrial isoforms suppress BAX-dependent cytochrome c release, thereby inhibiting apoptosis. It plays a role in the regulation of cell proliferation.
