Target Information
Peripherin is a 57 kDa type III intermediate filament and a specific marker for peripheral neurons, including enteric ganglion cells. It is expressed in the developing peripheral nervous system and highly enriched in neuronal derivatives of the neural crest. Compared to other neural markers such as S100 and NSE, peripherin does not stain chromaffin cell types.
