Product Specific Information
- Store vial at 4°C prior to restoration.
- For extended storage, aliquot contents and freeze at -20°C or below.
- Avoid cycles of freezing and thawing.
- Centrifuge product if not completely clear after standing at room temperature.
- Stable for several weeks at 4°C as undiluted liquid; dilute only prior to immediate use.
This antibody is specific for swine IFN beta protein.
A BLAST analysis suggests cross-reactivity with IFN beta from:
- Sus scrofa (pig)
- Potamochoerus larvatus koiropotamus
- Potamochoerus larvatus (Bushpig)
- Phacochoerus africanus (warthog)
Cross-reactivity with IFN beta from other species has not been determined.
Target Information
Type I Interferons (IFN-alpha/beta) are produced primarily in response to viral infection by Natural IFN-producing cells (IPCs) as part of the host immune response.
IFNs can also inhibit tumor development. IFN-beta binding activates tyrosine kinases Jak1 and Tyk2, leading to phosphorylation of STAT transcription factors and expression of immune response genes.
Members of the toll-like receptor (TLR) family also stimulate IFN-beta production.
Clinically, IFN-beta is used in treatment of tumors, infections, and multiple sclerosis.
