Target Information
P2rx6 encodes receptors that are members of the ligand-gated ion channel family activated by extracellular ATP. Each receptor is a trimer of P2X1–7 subunits, sharing two transmembrane domains.
This protein is part of the P2X receptor family, mediating rapid and selective cation permeability.
P2rx6 is predominantly expressed in skeletal muscle and regulated by p53.
It associates with VE-cadherin at adherens junctions in human umbilical vein endothelial cells.
Alternative splicing produces multiple transcript variants.
