This antibody recognizes the murine integrin beta 3 subunit (CD61), approximately a 90 kDa type I membrane protein expressed primarily on megakaryocytes, platelets, monocytes, macrophages, granulocytes, and endothelial cells.
CD61 associates with either the alpha IIb integrin (CD41) or the alpha V integrin (CD51) to form the platelet glycoprotein complex IIb/IIIa and the vitronectin receptor (VNR), respectively.

Target Information

CD61 (GPIIIa, ITGB3) is a glycoprotein found on megakaryocytes, platelets, and their precursors.
It functions as a receptor for fibrinogen, fibronectin, von Willebrand factor, and vitronectin, playing a key role in platelet aggregation.
CD61 is a 105 kDa glycoprotein that associates with either the alpha IIb integrin (CD41) or the alpha V integrin (CD51) at the cell surface.
It is expressed on platelets and megakaryocytes (with CD41), and on endothelial cells, monocytes, and osteoclasts (with CD51).
The CD61 protein product is composed of alpha and beta chains, forming different integrin complexes that mediate cell adhesion and signaling.
Dysfunction of CD61 is associated with Glanzmann Thrombasthenia and Platelet type-16 Bleeding Disorder.
