Preparation:
Produced from sera of rabbits immunized with highly pure Recombinant Murine IL-5. Anti-Murine IL-5-specific antibody was purified by affinity chromatography employing an immobilized Murine IL-5 matrix.

Sandwich ELISA:
To detect Murine IL-5 by sandwich ELISA (using 100 µL/well antibody solution), a concentration of 0.5–2.0 µg/mL of this antibody is required. This antigen affinity purified antibody, in conjunction with PeproTech Biotinylated Anti-Murine IL-5 (500-P55Bt) as a detection antibody, allows the detection of at least 0.2–0.4 ng/well of Recombinant Murine IL-5.

Western Blot:
To detect Murine IL-5 by Western Blot analysis, this antibody can be used at a concentration of 0.1–0.2 µg/mL. When used with compatible secondary reagents, the detection limit for Recombinant Murine IL-5 is 1.5–3.0 ng/lane under either reducing or non-reducing conditions.

Target Information

IL-5 is a cytokine that acts as a growth and differentiation factor for both B cells and eosinophils. It is a main regulator of eosinopoiesis, eosinophil maturation, and activation. Elevated IL-5 production is associated with asthma and hypereosinophilic syndromes. The IL-5 receptor is a heterodimer with a beta subunit shared with receptors for IL-3 and CSF2/GM-CSF. IL-5, IL-4, IL-13, and CSF2 form a cytokine gene cluster on chromosome 5 and are coordinately regulated by long-range elements over 120 kb on chromosome 5q31.
