Target Information
CHEK2 (CHK2) is a serine/threonine kinase involved in the DNA damage checkpoint pathway. Mutations in CHK2 have been associated with various cancers. It is activated by DNA damage and phosphorylates modulators of cell cycle control, including tumor suppressor proteins such as BRCA1. CHK2 acts as a potential tumor suppressor, and mutations are linked to Li-Fraumeni syndrome and predispositions to sarcomas, breast, and brain cancers.
