Product Specific Information

The BTLA antibody (clone 8F4) reacts with mouse BTLA (B and T lymphocyte attenuator) from BALB/c and C57Bl/6 strains.
BTLA is expressed on peripheral lymphocytes, splenic macrophages, developing B cells in bone marrow, developing T cells in thymus, and mature dendritic cells. It functions as a negative regulator of activation and function in various hematopoietic cells.

The anti-mouse BTLA clone 6F7 stains CD4+ and CD8+ SP thymocytes, while clones 8F4, 3F9.D12, 6G3, and 6H6 do not. Despite this, these clones show similar staining in splenocytes and bone marrow cells.

Applications Reported: Flow cytometric analysis.
Applications Tested: Tested on mouse splenocytes. Use ≤0.125 µg per test (100 µL final volume; 10⁵–10⁸ cells/test). Optimize titration for best performance.

Target Information

BTLA (B and T-lymphocyte attenuator) is a co-inhibitory receptor of the CD28 superfamily. It negatively regulates lymphocyte activation during immune responses.
BTLA is constitutively expressed on CD4+ and CD8+ T cells, decreasing upon activation, remaining on Th1 but not Th2 cells.
It interacts with HVEM (Herpesvirus Entry Mediator), a TNF receptor superfamily member, to regulate lymphocyte activation and homeostasis.
