The immunogen is a purified recombinant fragment of human PSMB8 expressed in E. coli.
MA5-15890 detects PSMB8, which has a predicted molecular weight of approximately 30 kDa.

Target Information

The proteasome is a multicatalytic proteinase complex with a highly ordered ring-shaped 20S core structure composed of four rings of 28 non-identical subunits. Two rings are formed by seven alpha subunits and two rings by seven beta subunits. Proteasomes are abundant throughout eukaryotic cells and cleave peptides in an ATP/ubiquitin-dependent, non-lysosomal pathway.
The immunoproteasome processes class I MHC peptides. The PSMB8 gene encodes a member of the proteasome B-type (T1B) family, a 20S core beta subunit located in the MHC class II region. Its expression is induced by gamma interferon and replaces the catalytic subunit 3 (proteasome beta 5 subunit) in the immunoproteasome. Proteolytic processing generates the mature subunit. Two alternative transcripts encoding isoforms have been identified, both yielding the same mature subunit.
