PINK1 (PTEN-induced putative kinase 1)는 세포 내 미토콘드리아 기능 이상으로부터 보호하는 역할을 하며, 미토콘드리아 유전자에 대한 자가 인산화 활성을 조절합니다. PINK1의 키나아제 도메인은 이러한 보호 작용에 중요하며, 미토콘드리아 단백질은 세포 에너지 조절과 스트레스 적응에 핵심적입니다. 특히 뇌세포는 높은 에너지 수요로 인해 미토콘드리아 기능이 중요하며, 구조적·기능적 손상이 발생할 경우 파킨슨병과 같은 신경퇴행성 질환이 유발될 수 있습니다.
