For reconstitution, add 100 µL distilled water to obtain a final antibody concentration of approximately 1 mg/mL.
To use this carrier-free antibody for conjugation experiments, perform an additional desalting step (e.g., Zeba Spin Desalting Columns, 7K MWCO, 0.5 mL, Product #89882).
Target Information
Amyloid Precursor Protein (APP) functions as a cell surface kinesin I membrane receptor, mediating axonal transport of beta-secretase and presenilin 1.
APP is essential for neurite growth, neuronal adhesion, and axonogenesis. It is a 100–140 kDa transmembrane glycoprotein with several isoforms generated by alternative splicing.
Proteolytic cleavage of APP by beta- and gamma-secretases generates beta amyloid, the main component of senile plaques—one of the major histopathologic features of Alzheimer’s disease.
Abnormal APP processing is also implicated in Down’s syndrome, early-onset familial Alzheimer’s disease, and cerebral hemorrhage.
