STAT5 alpha는 전사 인자 STAT 패밀리의 구성원으로, 사이토카인 및 성장 인자에 의해 수용체 관련 키나아제에 의해 인산화되어 핵으로 이동 후 전사 활성화 인자로 작용합니다.
STAT5 alpha는 IL2, IL3, IL7, GM-CSF, erythropoietin, thrombopoietin 및 성장 호르몬 등의 리간드에 의해 활성화되며, TEL/JAK2 유전자 융합에 의해 유발된 종양 발생과 관련이 있습니다.
마우스 STAT5 alpha는 BCL2L1/BCL-X(L) 발현을 유도하여 항아폽토시스 기능을 가지며, STAT5 beta와 함께 대부분의 조직에서 공발현됩니다. 두 단백질은 96%의 아미노산 서열 유사성을 가지며, 근육 및 유선 조직에서 상이한 mRNA 축적이 보고되었습니다.
STAT5 alpha는 생식, 수유, 면역 기능 및 체성 성장 등 다양한 생리적 기능에 관여합니다.
