Product Specific Information

  • PA1-84890 detects a band at approximately 48 kDa in rat spinal cord lysates.
  • Reconstitute with 0.1 mL PBS.
  • For long-term storage, addition of 0.09% sodium azide is recommended.
  • Prior to reconstitution, store at 4°C.
  • After reconstitution, store undiluted at -20°C, avoiding freeze/thaw cycles.
  • Rabbit anti-glycine receptor recognizes an epitope within the N-terminal region of glycine receptor alpha 1 and alpha 2 subunits.

Target Information

Glycine receptors are members of the ligand-gated ion channel superfamily mediating fast inhibitory neurotransmission. These pentameric membrane proteins form chloride channels. Binding of glycine to its receptor increases chloride conductance and induces membrane hyperpolarization. Four genes encoding glycine receptor alpha subunits and one beta subunit have been identified. Each subunit includes a large extracellular N-terminal region, four transmembrane domains, and a large cytoplasmic domain.
