This antibody detects endogenous levels of Leptin Receptor only when phosphorylated at Tyr986.

Target Information

The leptin (OB-R) receptor is a member of the cytokine receptor superfamily that plays an important role in mammalian body weight homeostasis and energy balance. Activation by leptin, secreted from adipose tissue, triggers downstream signaling via the JAK/STAT pathway. OB-R can homo-dimerize, initiating intracellular signaling. Several isoforms with differing signaling capabilities exist. The long form of OB-R is expressed in the choroid plexus and hypothalamus, key regions for satiety and energy regulation. Mutations in OB-R (db) or leptin (ob) genes can cause early-onset obesity and metabolic abnormalities such as hyperinsulinemia, insulin resistance, and increased adipose tissue.
