Target Information

CaV3.3 encodes the pore-forming alpha subunit of a voltage-gated calcium channel.
This protein is a member of the low voltage-activated, T-type calcium channel family.
CaV3.3 channels exhibit slower activation and inactivation compared to other T-type channels and may be involved in neuronal calcium signaling.
Alternate splicing results in multiple transcript variants.
Voltage-gated calcium channels (CaV) mediate calcium influx in response to depolarization and regulate intracellular processes such as contraction, secretion, neurotransmission, and gene expression.
Diseases associated with CACNA1I include Childhood Absence Epilepsy.
