Target Information
UBA2 is involved in the covalent attachment of one protein to another, a prominent post-translational modification. Ubiquitin is the most familiar protein modifier, and its activation and transfer have been extensively studied. SUMO (Sentrin) is a ubiquitin-like protein implicated in stabilization and localization of target proteins. SUMO conjugation (SUMO-1, SUMO-2, SUMO-3) requires the coordinated action of E1-activating enzyme SAE1/SAE2, E2-conjugating enzyme Ubc9, and an E3-like SUMO ligase.
