Chromosomal rearrangement between ALK (chromosome 2) and NPM (chromosome 5) leads to the oncogenic NPM-ALK fusion gene.
ALK encodes a receptor protein-tyrosine kinase with a transmembrane and extracellular domain, showing high similarity to LTK.
