Description:
The eBio13A antibody reacts with mouse IL-13, a cytokine mainly produced by Th2 cells and antigen-primed CD8 T cells. IL-13 plays a critical role in allergic inflammation, parasite clearance, and tumor regulation. In humans, IL-13 contributes to B cell isotype switching and down-modulates macrophage activity by reducing pro-inflammatory cytokines (IL-1, IL-6, IL-8, IL-10, IL-12).
Applications Reported:
Useful for ELISA and ELISPOT capture assays, and intracellular staining in flow cytometry.
Applications Tested:
Validated as a capture antibody for sandwich ELISA and ELISPOT analysis of mouse IL-13, in combination with biotinylated eBio1316H antibody (13-7135) for detection and recombinant mouse IL-13 (14-8131) as standard. Recommended ELISA capture range: 1.0–4.0 µg/mL. Include a standard curve (1000 pg/mL–8.0 pg/mL) in each ELISA plate.
Functional Grade Purified eBio1316H antibody (16-7135) is recommended for in vitro blocking studies.

Target Information
IL-13 is an immunoregulatory cytokine produced primarily by activated Th2 cells. It regulates inflammatory and immune responses by down-regulating macrophage activity and inhibiting pro-inflammatory cytokine production. IL-13 is implicated in allergen-induced asthma via mechanisms independent of IgE and eosinophils, and influences B cell maturation, differentiation, and IgE isotype switching. It shares structural similarity with IL-3, IL-4, IL-5, and GM-CSF, forming a cytokine gene cluster on chromosome 5q near IL4.
