Target Information
E2F5 is a member of the E2F family of transcription factors, which play a crucial role in the control of the cell cycle and the action of tumor suppressor proteins. The E2F proteins contain conserved domains including:
- DNA binding domain
- Dimerization domain for interaction with DP proteins
- Transactivation domain enriched in acidic amino acids
- Tumor suppressor protein association domain
E2F5 is differentially phosphorylated and expressed in various human tissues, showing high similarity to E2F4. Both E2F5 and E2F4 interact with tumor suppressor proteins p130 and p107, but not with pRB. Alternative splicing results in multiple isoforms.
