Clone M047 mouse monoclonal antibody detects a 140 kDa protein on SDS-PAGE (native or denatured) immunoblots of human A549, NCI-H1915, and MDA-MB-231 carcinoma samples.
This antibody detects Axl in membranes and cytoplasm of MDA-MB-231 cells after immunocytochemical labeling.
It is validated for use in Western blot, immunoprecipitation, immunocytochemistry, and ELISA capture assays.

Target Information

AXL is a chronic myelogenous leukemia-associated oncogene also linked to colon cancer and melanoma.
The AXL protein is a receptor tyrosine kinase that transduces extracellular matrix signals into cytoplasmic responses by binding growth factors such as GAS6.
It regulates cell proliferation and participates in apoptotic cell clearance through TAM receptor signaling.
Deficiency of TAM receptors in mice causes degenerative and autoimmune phenotypes similar to systemic lupus erythematosus.
AXL may also function as a potential entry receptor for filoviruses and serves as a marker for Siglec6+/Axl+ dendritic cells.
Its expression can be upregulated by TLR ligands (e.g., LPS, poly I:C), and soluble Axl levels may indicate inflammation or cancer.
