Product Specific Information

The eBio124-1D1 monoclonal antibody reacts with human CD7 (gp40, Leu9), a 40 kDa receptor belonging to the immunoglobulin gene superfamily. The N-terminal region (aa1–107) shows high homology to Ig kappa light chain sequences, while the C-terminal extracellular domain is proline-rich, forming a stalk structure for the Ig domain.

CD7 is expressed on most immature and mature T lymphocytes, T cell leukemias, NK cells, a small subset of B cells, and malignant B cells. Cross-linking of CD7 modulates T cell and NK cell activity, influencing calcium flux, adhesion molecule expression, cytokine secretion, and proliferation. CD7 directly associates with phosphoinositol 3′-kinase, inducing D-3 phosphoinositide production and tyrosine phosphorylation.

A clonogenic subpopulation of CD34(+) CD38(-) cord blood cells expressing CD45RA, HLA-DR, and high levels of CD7 has been identified. These cells can generate B cells, NK cells, and dendritic cells but not myeloid or erythroid cells, distinguishing primitive lymphoid progenitors from pluripotent stem cells.

CD7 may cooperate with CD28 during Treg function; deficiency in both CD28 and CD7 leads to reduced Treg numbers and suppressive activity.
