Target Information
HuD, also known as ELAV-like protein 4 or PNEM, is a human protein encoded by the ELAVL4 gene located at chromosome 1p34.
HuD/ELAVL4 is an RNA-binding protein with specificity for 3′ uridylate-rich untranslated regions of growth factor mRNAs. It is expressed exclusively in neurons and binds to AU-rich element-containing mRNAs, increasing transcript half-life.
HuD plays important roles in neuronal development and synaptic plasticity.
