세포 내 위치
Cytoplasm and nucleus. Shuttles between cytoplasm and nucleus. Largely nuclear in unstimulated cells. In osteoblasts, colocalizes with ATF4 and RUNX2 in the nucleus. Serum deprivation increases nuclear localization, activating SOX9 expression and chondrogenesis. Insulin-induced phosphorylation at Ser-256 by PKB/AKT1 promotes nuclear export and cytoplasmic degradation. Phosphorylation at Ser-249 by CDK1 disrupts 14-3-3 binding, promoting nuclear accumulation.
배경 정보
This gene belongs to the forkhead family of transcription factors characterized by a distinct forkhead domain. Its specific function is not yet fully determined, but it may be involved in myogenic growth and differentiation. Translocation with PAX3 has been associated with alveolar rhabdomyosarcoma.
