Background
Olfactory receptor family 5 subfamily A member 2 (OR5A2) is a G-protein-coupled receptor (GPCR) involved in odorant molecule recognition and signal transduction in olfactory neurons. These receptors share a seven-transmembrane domain structure common to many neurotransmitter and hormone receptors. The olfactory receptor gene family is the largest in the human genome, with nomenclature independent across species.
