Target Information
STAT1 (Signal Transducers and Activators of Transcription 1) is a transcription factor activated by cytokines and growth factors such as interferon-alpha, interferon-gamma, EGF, PDGF, and IL6. It regulates genes involved in cell growth, apoptosis, immune response, and lipid metabolism.
STAT1 gene is located on chromosome 2 and is activated via phosphorylation by JAK tyrosine kinases, allowing nuclear translocation and transcriptional regulation.
Among the STAT family members, STAT1, STAT3, STAT5a, and STAT5b exhibit broad activation profiles. STAT1 responds to ligands including IFN family (IFN-α, IFN-β, IFN-γ, IL-10), gp130 family (IL-6, IL-11, LIF, CNTF, G-CSF), and receptor tyrosine kinases (EGF, PDGF, CSF-1).
Two alternatively spliced transcript variants encode distinct isoforms of STAT1.
