Target Information
The Hox proteins play a role in embryonic development and cellular differentiation by regulating downstream target genes.
TLX1 (also known as HOX11) is a DNA-binding nuclear transcription factor located outside the four mammalian Hox clusters.
It encodes a homeobox-domain-containing protein with a glycine- and proline-rich N-terminus.
TLX1 is essential for spleen development and cell survival, and is highly expressed in T-cell leukemia and lymphoid neoplasias due to translocation.
TLX1-deficient mice lack a spleen.
