Product Specific Information
- Immunohistochemistry (PFA fixed): Incubate antibody for 30 minutes at room temperature.
- Staining of formalin-fixed tissues requires heating tissue sections in 10 mM Tris with 1 mM EDTA, pH 9.0, for 45 minutes at 95°C, followed by cooling at room temperature for 20 minutes.
Target Information
Adiponectin is a protein hormone secreted exclusively by adipocytes that regulates lipid and glucose metabolism. It plays a role in physiological processes such as energy homeostasis and obesity.
Decreased adiponectin levels are associated with obesity, insulin resistance, and type 2 diabetes. In mice, adiponectin improves insulin signaling and reduces insulin resistance through activation of AMP kinase and PPAR-alpha, enhancing fatty acid transport, oxidation, and dissipation in skeletal muscle.
