Target Information
The antibody targets the constant region of immunoglobulin heavy chains. Immunoglobulins (antibodies) are glycoproteins produced by B lymphocytes, functioning as receptors during the recognition phase of humoral immunity. Upon antigen binding, they trigger clonal expansion and differentiation into plasma cells that secrete antibodies. These antibodies mediate the effector phase of humoral immunity, leading to antigen elimination. Each immunoglobulin has two antigen-binding sites formed by the variable domains of heavy and light chains. The diversity of these domains arises from V-(D)-J rearrangement and somatic hypermutation, enabling affinity maturation after antigen exposure.
