IL-15 (Interleukin 15)은 T세포와 자연살해세포(NK cell)의 활성화 및 증식을 조절하는 사이토카인입니다. IL-15와 IL-2는 공통 수용체 서브유닛을 공유하며 상호 조절 작용을 보입니다.
IL-15는 JAK 키나아제 활성화 및 STAT3, STAT5, STAT6의 인산화와 활성화를 유도하며, Bcl-xL 발현 증가를 통해 세포사멸을 억제할 수 있습니다.
이 단백질은 T 및 B 림프구, NK 세포, 대식세포, 단핵구의 성장과 분화에 중요한 역할을 하며, 면역 반응, 이식편 거부반응, 자가면역질환의 병태생리에 관여합니다.
또한 IL-15는 류머티즘 관절염, 건선, 폐 염증질환 등 다양한 염증성 질환에서 발현이 증가하며, IL-15의 중화가 치료적 효과를 가질 가능성이 보고되고 있습니다.
