Product Specific Information
- Immunohistochemistry (PFA fixed): Incubate antibody for 30 min at room temperature.
- Staining of formalin-fixed tissues requires heating tissue sections in 10 mM Tris with 1 mM EDTA (pH 9.0) for 45 min at 95°C, followed by cooling at room temperature for 20 min.
Target Information
Estrogen Receptor beta (ER beta, NR3A2) is approximately 55 kDa, with multiple isoforms ranging from 36–59 kDa. Initially cloned from human testis, ER beta belongs to the nuclear receptor superfamily.
It functions as a ligand-activated transcription factor that binds estrogen and regulates gene expression through estrogen response elements (EREs).
Two receptor forms exist—ER alpha (ESR1) and ER beta (ESR2)—both binding estrogen with similar affinity.
ER beta isoforms can inhibit ER alpha activity in reproductive tissues and act as tumor suppressors in various cancers and diseases, including prostate cancer, autism spectrum disorder, medullary thyroid carcinoma, De Quervain Disease, and cardiovascular disease.
