Target Information

TRPM8 is a receptor-activated non-selective cation channel involved in detection of cool sensations, activated by cold temperatures below 25°C as well as by icilin, eucalyptol, and menthol. It is permeable to sodium, potassium, cesium, and calcium ions.
TRPM8 expression is mainly restricted to prostate epithelial cells, showing moderate expression in normal prostate tissue and elevated levels in prostate cancer. It is also expressed in several nonprostatic tumors (breast, colon, lung, skin), but rarely detected in corresponding normal tissues.
