This antibody recognizes and binds porcine CD163.
Target Information
CD163 (M130 antigen, Ber-Mac3, Ki-M8, SM4) is a 130 kDa membrane glycoprotein and a member of the scavenger receptor cysteine-rich superfamily. It acts as a receptor for the hemoglobin-haptoglobin complex, protecting tissues from oxidative damage caused by free hemoglobin. CD163 is expressed on monocytes and macrophages, primarily in the late phase of inflammation, and is upregulated by IL-10, IL-6, and dexamethasone. It mediates endocytosis of hemoglobin/haptoglobin complexes and triggers intracellular signaling cascades involving calcium mobilization and secretion of IL6 and CSF1.
