Product Specific Information
This antibody recognizes an extracellular epitope of CD205, an approximately 200 kDa C-type lectin transmembrane protein of the macrophage mannose receptor (MMR) family. CD205 is expressed at high levels on dendritic cells and thymic epithelial cells, and at low levels on lymphocytes, NK cells, and monocytes.
Target Information
CD205 (LY75, Lymphocyte Antigen 75) is an integral membrane glycoprotein involved in antigen uptake, trafficking, and presentation, enhancing antigen-specific T cell immunity. It is highly expressed by CD8⁺ dendritic cells and variably expressed by bone marrow Gr1⁺ cells, Langerhans cells, bone marrow–derived dendritic cells (BMDCs), and thymic epithelial cells. CD205 functions as an endocytic receptor that directs captured antigens to specialized processing regions and can modulate B lymphocyte proliferation.
Diseases associated with CD205 dysfunction include pneumonic plague and lipid pneumonia.
