Product Specific Information
In Western blot, this antibody detects a single ~60 kDa protein representing tyrosine hydroxylase from rat brain lysates or PC-12 cells stimulated by okadaic acid.
Immunohistochemical staining of TH in human brain with OPA1-04050 results in intense labeling of dopaminergic neurons in the substantia nigra.

Target Information
Tyrosine hydroxylase (TH) is an enzyme involved in the synthesis of catecholamine neurotransmitters such as dopamine, epinephrine, and norepinephrine. Catecholamine synthesis is regulated by the interaction of TH with the cofactor tetrahydrobiopterin (BH4), which binds to the TH catalytic domain to activate the enzyme.
In humans, four TH mRNA splice variants (hTH1–hTH4) have been identified, differing in their N-terminal regulatory domains.
TH catalyzes the conversion of L-tyrosine to L-dopa and plays a key role in adrenergic neuron physiology.
Its function is linked to several neuropathogenic diseases, including Parkinson’s disease, schizophrenia, Segawa syndrome, dystonia, and various cardiovascular diseases.
