Target Information
Thymidine Kinase 1 (TK1) is a conserved phosphotransferase present in most living cells. It catalyzes the phosphorylation of deoxythymidine to deoxythymidine 5′-phosphate, playing a key role in DNA synthesis. TK1 activity is associated with cell proliferation and is utilized in antiviral drug mechanisms (e.g., AZT) and hybridoma selection. Its expression correlates with cell division, making it useful in proliferation studies and clinical research.
