This affinity purified antibody is directed against the V5 epitope tag and is useful for detecting its presence in overexpressed proteins across various assays.
It recognizes the V5 epitope tag (Gly-Lys-Pro-Ile-Pro-Asn-Pro-Leu-Leu-Gly-Leu-Asp-Ser-Thr) fused to either the amino- or carboxy-terminus of targeted proteins in transfected or transformed cells.

The V5 epitope tag is derived from a small epitope (Pk) present on the P and V proteins of the paramyxovirus of simian virus (SV5).
Typically, the full 14 amino acid sequence (GKPIPNPLLGLDST) is used, though shorter versions (IPNPLLGLD) are also applicable.
