Target Information

Ribosomes are organelles that catalyze protein synthesis, consisting of a small 40S subunit and a large 60S subunit. These subunits contain 4 RNA species and approximately 80 distinct proteins.
This gene encodes a ribosomal protein component of the 40S subunit, belonging to the S12E family, located in the cytoplasm. Increased expression has been observed in colorectal cancers compared to normal colonic mucosa. Multiple processed pseudogenes are dispersed throughout the genome.
